The Center for Comparative Eurasia Studies and Surveys (CEASS-Center) is an international research and consulting think-tank established as a non-profit and research-oriented NGO under the Austrian law. [Legacy=>]
The main areas of the activities of CEASS-Center are the acquisition and implementation of international comparative research programs in various fields of Social Sciences, as well as the contribution to developmental, consulting and technical assistance projects, mainly in Eurasian countries. We build research consortia, acquire and coordinate projects and many our members and experts are teaching at various universities in Europe and worldwide. [Projects=>]
Geographically, the main focus of CEASS-Center expertise lies on the “new” members of the European Union (EU) and the Eastern neighborhood of the EU, embracing Central and Eastern Europe (including the Caucasus and Central Asia) and Balkan countries. We employ a wide palette of research methods from different Social Sciences, such as Sociology, Political Science, Economics, or Linguistics to explore short- and long-term trends of societal development in our focus regions. Thematically, CEASS-Center projects are dedicated to studies of living conditions, dynamics of health care systems, social capital, development of civil society and democracy, studies of identities and other aspects of social life (cultures, languages, etc.) [Research=>]
The mission of the CEASS-Center is to contribute to a better understanding of political, social and economic trends in Eurasia. Through the implementation of high-quality research projects and dissemination of project findings to stakeholders we aim to foster evidence-based policy making and raise awareness for key challenges in the region – challenges that also have high policy relevance for the European Union.
